Wellstar West Georgia in LaGrange, Georgia is seeking FT Days Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Clinical Reviewer. Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Clinical Reviewer is responsible for identifying 100% of metabolic and bariatric surgery patients, abstracting preoperative, intraoperative, 30-day postoperative visits, and long-term follow- up data components from the hospital and surgical office medical records to obtain valid and reliable data for inclusion in the MBSAQIP data registry or comparable data collection tool as assigned. Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Clinical Reviewer is integral in identifying process improvement opportunities as well as accurately completing timely entry of reportable data into the program’s database. Participation in online training, teleconferences, webinars and periodic professional development seminars. Compile data for audits, accreditation and site visits. Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery Clinical Reviewer is a Registered Nurse and part of the Bariatric Center of Excellence at WellStar West Georgia. This position is a part of a care team focused on the entire patient process of surgical intervention to post-operative care. Responsible for assisting the bedside staff with bariatric patients, providing patient surgical education, postoperative education as well as assistance with post-operative care. Assist with ambulation and transfer of bariatric patients. Assist in medication education related to discharge prescriptions. Collaborates between the patient and surgeon regarding care of bariatric patients. Responsible for discharge phone calls of all bariatric patients.
Required Minimum Education
- Associate degree in Nursing.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred
Required Minimum Licensure/Certification
- Must be a Registered Nurse actively licensed in the state of Georgia
- Required to demonstrate the ability to pass the MBSCR certification examination with a minimum score of 90% within six months of employment
Required Minimum Experience
- Two years of experience in a hospital setting or physician’s office
- Coding, EMR, Medical Records, Research or other experience gathering information in a complex hospital environment preferred
Required Minimum Skills
- Familiar with Microsoft Office, Ability to communicate via telephonic, live, and the written word with patients and work groups affiliated with the program
- Experience with the MBSAQIP database preferred
