General Summary of Position:
- Performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including 2D echo, Doppler, stress, dobutamine, and other echocardiographic tests. Prepares preliminary test measurements and facilitates understanding of sonographic examinations.
Education:
- Associate's degree or higher level degree or equivalent training, such as coursework in anatomy and physiology, is required.
Experience:
- From 1 to 3 years experience required in ultrasound procedures equipment, CW Doppler, and related anatomy and pathological conditions of the heart, valves, pericardium, and blood vessels.
Certification/Registration/Licensure:
- BLS certification and Registration by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or by the American Registry of Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographers (ARDCS) or by the Cardiology Credentialing Institute/National Board of Cardiovascular Technologists (CCI/NBCVT), or become eligible to take the registry within one year of hire and pass the registry within two years of hire.
