Description

Since 1987, the Washington Hospital Center's Division of Nursing has been providing RN Bridge Programs that have been the foundation for new graduate and RN training.  All training programs are run by experienced clinical educators who oversee both the classroom and clinical orientation components. RN Bridge programs are designed for experienced RN's who want to enter a new specialty area.  All Bridge Programs include: Classroom instruction tailored to clinical area, includes focused case study approach to learning, extensive preceptorship, dedicated nurse educator for each specialty area, and new hire support/mentorship.

The Operating Room RN Bridge Program offers opportunities to work in our 21-suite Main Operating Room or our In and Out Operating Room.  Approximate length of training is 9 months. 

Requirements: Graduation from a basic educational program in professional nursing.  BSN preferred.

RN Academic Requirement: For new graduates hired with an Associate degree, employment with MedStar Washington Hospital Center is contingent upon enrollment into an accredited BSN program within one (1) year of employment, and continuing matriculation in the program to achieve a BSN within 5 years of the program start date. Proof of enrollment to be submitted to Nurse Leader. BLS Required.
