Position Summary

This role supports the day-to-day legal function of Univision's Distribution Business Affairs, Sales, Strategy/Finance, and Marketing teams. The role requires a thoughtful and proactive legal professional with experience working in a fast-paced media environment and legal expertise with commercial contracts. Experience with content distribution and media platforms highly desired.


  • Serve as a communications hub, subject matter expert, and deal process manager for Univision's Distribution team
  • Maintain and improve upon existing processes and procedures for ensuring efficient, top-quality deal output (e.g., business terms and contract sign-off and compliance, required precursors to contract drafting, editing, and drafting, analyze contracts and provide information and analysis, assist in drafting and proofreading legal and business documentation)
  • Maintain and improve the existing process for requesting distribution deals (e.g., MVPD, OTT, digital, mobile) and serve as a quality-control gatekeeper for all contract requests for such deals
  • Maintain a file of all applicable contract terms summaries, and ensure that Business Affairs updates such summaries when necessary
  • Collect, maintain, update, and, as applicable, circulate for internal review and usage all current versions of legal certifications, advertising guidelines, and brand guidelines
  • Maintain a comprehensive list of all Distribution deal expirations and termination opportunities
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive spreadsheet of substantive sections in Distribution's largest deal documents
  • Manage internal Distribution team recordkeeping and organization, as well as requests for information from other UCI departments
  • Maintain consistently named, searchable, and organized deal files and database (including final, fully executed copies of all contracts, final draft Word versions of the executed documents, and all related correspondence)
  • Create and maintain up-to-date contract reference binders of existing documents for all significant distribution deals (e.g., largest MVPDs, Hulu, Netflix, Google, Apple)
  • Update and train internal clients regarding relevant internal processes and protocols
  • Assist in planning and organizing educational and informational sessions within the department

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years of practical legal assistant experience. Paralegal certification preferred
  • Significant expertise reviewing and drafting commercial contracts and documentation
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, OneNote, Teams, Outlook, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
  • Must have strong written (including legal drafting) and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to independently prioritize work and handle multiple tasks with set deadlines as a top priority, and possess excellent organizational and tracking skills
  • A high level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism
  • Able to complete a high volume of tasks and projects quickly with little guidance and react with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require a quick response or turnaround in an exciting and fast-paced media environment
  • Must be qualified (or willing to become) a notary public

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Previous exposure to legal matters specific to media and distribution a strong plus
  • Experience with content distribution, new technology, and media platforms
  • Proven experience articulating and managing legal and business matters across an organization with a number of different business units
  • Demonstrated organization, facilitation, communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to collaborate across a cross-functional team in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience managing high-stakes issues with senior executives in a professional, assertive, and proactive manner
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple, cross-functional projects with different geographic offices
