Job Summary and Qualifications
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Clinical Pharmacist to join our fast-paced Emergency Department. This position is focused on providing comprehensive clinical pharmacy coverage within our 65- bed emergency department. This pharmacist should be able to provide high quality patient care in a dynamic, high-acuity setting.
What you will do in this role:
1. Responsible for the provision of comprehensive clinical pharmacy services for the ED and all associated areas (eg. Pediatrics, Trauma, Urgent Care) including pharmacokinetic and therapeutic consultation.
2. Collaborate with physicians/ medical residents, nurses and other healthcare providers
3. Provide Pharmacy review of medication orders and ensure safe and effective drug therapy for ED patients.
4. In coordination with Clinical Manager, prepare formulary documents for new Emergency Department requests, protocols, policies, and order sets and make recommendations regarding place on formulary. Develop guidelines to ensure appropriate use of high-cost and/or specialized drugs used in the ED.
5. Act as a preceptor to students and/or residents.
6. Participate in code response. Manage drug preparation and dosing.
7. Provide education to emergency department staff as needed.
8. Facilitate safe and accurate medication therapy management at transitions of care.
What qualifications you will need:
BLS,PALS,ACLS must be current or obtained within 60 months of employment start date
PharmD from an accredited College of Pharmacy
Current Tennessee Pharmacist License
PGY1 Residency
PGY2 in Emergency Medicine or Critical Care preferred
Three- years of experience in an area of specialty highly preferred
Board Certification preferred
Excellent communication and computer skills
