Position Summary/ Job Description :
This role will be a part of the Trek Product Performance team within Engineering. This role will manage bike builds for multiple business units within the product development process. As an expert bike mechanic, this person will be expected to be the "voice of the customer" and provide feedback and insights.

Responsibilities :

  • Primary role will be to support bike assembly for the engineering development process (Form Fit Function, ride evaluations & test plans) while providing feedback and insights related to each build
  • Maintain a constant inventory of components necessary to assemble complete bikes; work directly with Engineering, Industrial Design, & Project Management
  • Work directly with development teams to establish a plan for execution of upcoming prototype builds & test trips; participate in development team project meetings (as needed) for multiple development teams to understand the product and context of assembly
  • Work closely with shared resource teams such as Prototype Shop, Graphics Paint Engineer, Wheel Team, and others to ensure smooth flow of prototypes from outset to completion
  • Package prototypes for shipping to test riders, test labs, assembly factories, or other destinations related to the project
  • Track shipments of components from suppliers to be used in assembly of complete bikes, pursue shipments, and perform necessary legwork to gather all necessary components for assembly
  • Some hands-on support beyond bike mechanic support (wind tunnel prep, etc )
  • Travel maybe required from time to time (<10%)

Other Opportunities (as time allows) :
  • H elp support bike assembly for industrial design concept and graphic design reviews across all bike categories.
  • Provide bike mechanic training for engineers and designers; Help design specific training programs and/or provide on an as needed basis

Position Requirements :
  • 5+ years of bike mechanic experience
  • Technical bike assembly skills including functional prototypes as well asdelicaterapid prototypes
  • C reative ability to improvise when necessary to accomplish the goal; pursue substitute parts for unavailable spec, with input from team members
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and/or Ascend is necessary for parts inventory maintenance, collaboration with engineers, product managers, industrial designers
  • Great interpersonal skills to work fluidly with all team members and build positive relationships
  • Takes initiative, has accountability, and pays attention to details
  • Good time management and organizational skills are critical
  • Goal-oriented, results-focused
  • Clear, proactive communicator
  • Basic machine shop experience a plus
