How Will you make an impact?

Responsible for the direct supervision of QC Scientists, Engineers and Technicians performing Raw Material testing and Incoming Inspection, according to established policies and management guidance. Reviews product DHR device history records to disposition raw materials and intermediates. Administers company policies that directly affect QC personnel. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance and disciplining employees.

What will you do?

Manages and coordinates the activities of the department and directly provides guidance to QC Scientists / Engineers to achieve goals and complete assignments and projects, as well as adhere to production schedules.

  • Manages Raw Materials requirements for Operations; this includes qualification and approval of the materials for Production use.
  • Leads the team to perform routine analysis of raw materials, antibodies, intermediates, filled reagents and/or finished kits according to approved procedures.
  • Reviews and approves QSR change documentation. Reviews and dispositions raw materials, intermediates, finished goods and non-conformance reports.
  • Provides for the development and training of QC Scientists / Engineers.
  • Assure compliance with QSRs and ISO regulations in the performance of department responsibilities.
  • Supports the transfer of new products into Production.
  • Identifies and evaluates fundamental problems for major functional areas through assessment of intangible variables.
  • Performs CAPA investigations, NCAR root cause and trouble shooting activities within functional area of responsibility.
  • Performs other responsibilities to support the needs of the department as assigned by the Manager.

How will you get there?

  • Minimum BS/BA in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Bioscience with 5 years Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience; or 3 years and an advanced degree.

Experience

  • Direct supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong command of Quality System Regulations and ISO.
  • Skilled at analyzing data and summarizing results, as well as generating performance metrics to drive corrective actions.
  • Strong math skills including calculation of concentrations and dilutions and a strong grasp of algebraic concepts.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • High level of reading comprehension skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions with a high level of accuracy.
  • Working knowledge of clinical analyzers is preferred.
  • Must be able to write clear, understandable documentation.
  • High level of verbal communication skills, and functional leadership skills.
  • Strong word processing and spreadsheet software skills.
  • Strong organizational skills to be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and the ability to appropriately prioritize tasks. Ability to work cross-functionally throughout the facility.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Supervises QC Engineers/Scientists and Technicians.
  • Has authority to disposition raw materials, intermediates and finished goods.
  • Responsibilities include continuous evaluation of existing procedures and processes throughout and to recommend and implement improvements.
  • May serve as Team Leader or Team Member to support projects (ie., new product commercialization, process improvements) and will have full authority to represent the QC/QA function.
  • Completes performance review for direct reports and performs coaching to direct reports to ensure development.
