Location: >50% Remote work, regular travels to manufacturing site in Erlangen / Germany
How will you make an impact?
A Product Application Specialist is the primary technical interface between the sales team and major industrial manufacturers. You will develop technical applications and generate proof points for gauging technologies and help convince customers of how we can improve the quality of their products. You will ensure optimal utilization of appropriate gauging technologies, products and services within the Customers’ manufacturing processes and application.Additionally, you will provide effective training activities and workshops for the development of application and product knowledge within global commercial team, which ensure that customers achieve their business and financial objectives.
Other contributions include providing strategic and in-depth scientific and technical support in relation to gauging solutions for the marketplace, ensuring our customers’ needs are met and matched to our capabilities.
Primarily interfaces between the Commercial Sales Organization (Account Managers), Product Management & Marketing, possible third party partners/suppliers and the end-user/Customer.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting and improving sales processes & market efforts by:- Providing & delivering effective technical presentations and other sales tools that complement commercial sales activities
- Leading discussions on the product specification relative to the customer application in order to define the scope of solution.
- Assisting with customer surveys, inquiries, user specifications and product briefs; conducting process mapping activities, collaborating & making recommendations on potential process improvements through utilization of Thermo Fisher Scientifics’ technologies & concepts
- Utilizing inter-company colleagues and capabilities to recommend new product features and develop new markets for existing products that could complement the existing range from the perspective of identified customer needs
- Providing the vital voice of the customer (VOC) feedback to the appropriate levels within Product Management for all products and solutions
- Collecting and evaluating competitor activities & innovations within the marketplace and ensuring that relevant information is circulated within the sales and marketing organization
- Assisting with resolving customer complaints through investigation activities related to technical data and commitments made by sales support, product management, quality assurance, engineering and R&D as appropriate
How you will get here:
Education
Academic or industrial qualifications in engineering or physics, and an aptitude for solving problems independently.Experience
- Experience with manufacturing process analytics and control, and/or experience with web or metals gauging. Experience with material thickness gauging devices such as laser or ionizing radiation sources; x-ray, alpha, beta, or gamma emitters, is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Results-oriented, metrics-driven with a root cause, continuous improvement approach.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, proficient in both spoken and written English, German language skills preferable
- Ability to travel up to 40% (international travel)
