How will you make an impact?
The Business Development Manager, Bio-Innovation owns the global relationship between established and emerging Bio-Incubators/innovation centers and Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Life Sciences Solutions Group (LSG). They will strengthen the overall account and market strategy, and collaborate with the divisions to build focused account partnership/growth strategies. They will develop relationships at the senior level, within accounts and LSG to plan and implement an account strategy crafted to improve collection of share, for the division.
The Business Development Manager, Bio-Innovation will position LSG’s entire portfolio of products & services, as well as position LSG in the perspective of the whole Thermo Fisher Scientific Corporation in alignment with the Corporate Account Executives.
What will you do?
- Accelerate LSG growth through product access and positioning of total Thermo Fisher solutions with innovation centers and bio-incubators, at the onset of new co-establishment.
- Establish relationships with the investor community, corporate developers in the life science space and real estate entities, to use for partnership and growth.
- Build strategies incorporating LSG divisions and its field sales organizations, to drive growth and improve market share in assigned accounts.
- Identify key areas of short term and long-term growth in the emerging biotech space.
- Represent the entire LSG portfolio and interface between the account, LSG and its divisions. Partner closely with LSG Strategic Accounts team and Corporate Accounts.
- Identify new potential partnerships and draft contractual terms.
- Conduct regular business updates to key partners within client company and Thermo Fisher.
- Develop the business objectives for the account strategy with the commercial team, including umbrella financial objectives and compliance metrics.
- Develop positive relationships with Account Executives, Scientific Key Opinion Leaders, resident companies, and other influential contacts to ensure mutually effective business results for LSG and the account. Accountable for influencing internal divisional team members to generate end customer value and, holding customer accountable to delivering upon their commitments to LSG.
- Delivers upon assigned account revenue targets on a quarterly and annual basis.
- Ensure a well-adapted process to define, communicate, activate, implement, and performance run strategic choices and initiatives that will drive achievement of goals.
- Represent all customer sites in your targeted accounts, conveying global initiatives and serving, as the key LSG commercial point of contact for the business.
- Provide market insight and input into commercial tools, programs and processes that can be confirmed broadly across the organization, including portfolio and pricing strategies.
- This position is home office based, preferably in the NW US or San Francisco with responsibility of upward of $80-100+M in revenue per account.
How will you get here?
- A Bachelor’s degree in a Life Sciences subject area required
- Minimum 5 years of sales experience with a consistent track record for sales achievement required
- A strong teammate with consistent track record to coordinate activities and influence actions across a team of resources not directly reporting.
- Shown ability to coordinate activities and influence actions of our commercial and channel representatives to drive pivotal initiatives
- Have a greater understanding of the competitive landscape in the customer base
- Possess strong analytical capabilities that can assess and understand profitability of customer relationships, in order to optimally form partnerships.
- Strong negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of international business with secure financial/discernment.
- Well established project management skills. Analysis, planning, organization, execution and follow-up
- Upbeat, motivated and resourceful
- Showed strength with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to travel overnight globally (up to 50%)
Preferred Qualifications (nice to have):
- Experience of working in a global setting and leading different cultural teams
- MBA or professional business education
- Previous experience within Bio-Incubators
- Matrix management and / or cross functional experience
