Rapid Diagnostic Solutions (RDS) - San Diego, CA
The Quality Control Scientist III position is a specialized member of the Quality Control team. In this role you will perform work required to ensure product quality is maintained at standards set forth by Mesa Biotech, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Quality System and mandated by regulatory agencies. Responsibilities include completing incoming, in-process, and final release testing of various products manufactured or received by Mesa Biotech, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific. In addition, this position completes QC investigations, trends product performance, and leads process/product improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform incoming inspections of all raw materials
- Operate all equipment safely, as trained and directed, in accordance with established practices
- Maintain material identification and status control
- Perform test and inspection procedures in compliance with written and approved standard operating procedures
- Summarize data to track/trend product performance
- Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly metrics
- Leads and participates in cross-functional teams
- Leads continuous improvement and cost improvement projects
- Leads troubleshooting and lab investigations
- Ability to adhere to standard timeline and communicate actions appropriately for resolution in a timely manner
- Responsible for meeting deadlines under a tight timeline and changing priorities
- Create and own medium to high-risk Non-Conformances/ Deviations / CAPAs
- Recommend and implement test procedure updates
- Performs tasks related to QC functional responsibilities such as, stability, validations, sample retention program, customer complaints, inventory maintenance, and continuous improvement efforts
- Provide administrative and technical support services during quality assurance audits.
- Provides training to other QC personnel
- Review’s manufacturing batch records for accuracy, completeness, and GDP
- Always follows Good Lab Practices (GLP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP)
- Embodies cultural values and aligns daily actions with department goals and company culture
- Manage projects and influence with small subset of QC Scientist I and IIs
- Work effectively with cross functional teams (Validation, Quality Assurance)
- Other activities as deemed necessary by the QC management team
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.

- Effective written and oral communication skills
- High attention to detail, highly organized, and strong documentation skills
- Ability to be self-motivated, proactive, accountable, and flexible
- Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple tasks/projects and meet deadlines
