How will you make an impact?
The PowerBI developer at Thermo Fisher Scientific is a multidimensional and wide-ranging position covering data, process, and technology within the Business Intelligence team that support all Life Sciences Operational divisions and functions. This team member serves as a key resource and advisor for initiatives where a PowerBI solution is the final result, looking to continuously optimize BI visualizations for the user experience. The candidate will guide in Power BI report writing and development, either delivering on the outcome or providing technical support to other team members. The candidate will drive and lead PowerBI related standardization and harmonization across all BI content, to enable consistent, efficient, and scalable performance across all Operations PowerBI portfolio. This position will collaborate with our Data Architects, Database Administrators, and Data Analysts on initiatives and will ensure efficient PBI delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects.
What will you do?
- Deliver technical leadership in Power BI development and administration, with an authoritative bias to DAX queries and utilization of advance level calculations on the data set
- Be responsible for the diagnosis and support of Power BI reporting solutions, including investigation of data issues, data validation, scalability, balancing and row level security implementation
- Design and document expertise in connecting to various data sources, importing data, and redefining data for Business Intelligence needs.
- Create and deliver standards on defining, crafting, and documenting reference PBI architecture
- Develop and apply standardized housekeeping ensuring reporting accuracy and stability
- Identify and provide input to new technology opportunities, including regular Microsoft PBI releases, that will have a positive impact on improving the BI visualization portfolio.
- Collaborate and technically mentor other developers and analysts for successful project delivery
How will you get there?
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related field (Master’s preferred)
Experience:
- 5-8+ years of working experience in delivering Power BI solutions.
- Accomplished in developing, publishing and scheduling Power BI reports as per the business requirements with a lens for translating data into factual visuals and reports enabling data driven decisions.
- Experience building Cloud BI solutions using AWS as data lake backend sources and Power BI as BI visualization tools
- 5+ years’ experience and familiarity with Microsoft Business Intelligence Stack having Power BI, SSAS, SSRS, SSIS preferred
- Expertise in designing DAX queries in Power BI desktop
- Experience in using DAX Studio and Tabular Editor
- Knowledge of MDX, M Query and Power Query
- Expertise in SQL queries
- Experience in leveraging parameters
- Expertise in using advance level calculations on the data set with experience in handling multi-million data sets
- Leverage industry best practices to ensure deployed reports are structured efficiently including visualizations
- Working knowledge of data warehouse concepts, relational database design and data modeling
- Experience with Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate)
- Experience with Microsoft O365 products and services experience a plus
- Experience with ERP Supply Chain business process/systems and cloud-based applications
- 5+ years of working knowledge for key cross functional Operations business processes, with practical experience in Supply Chain and data management preferred.
- 5+ years project management experience, displaying skills that highlight ability to balance multiple projects and prioritize needs.
- Experience on the execution of Agile/SCRUM processes and repeatable, predictable, and high-quality delivery of software solutions
