Title: Junior Legal Counsel

Organization: Legal, China

Location: Shanghai Pudong, PRC

Reports To: Senior Legal Counsel

Position Summary:

This incumbent will work independently, under supervision of the Senior Legal Counsel, to provide legal support to medium business unit on routine legal work, assess legal risks of business contracts and projects, and perform general case management across business divisions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts/documents related to the day-to-day operation of business units
  • Continuously streamlining and optimizing the processes; providing legal trainings from time to time to enhance the legal awareness of business teams
  • Providing timely, pro-active and practical legal advice to internal business clients
  • Working jointly with Compliance, Trade Compliance, Finance, Credit and EHS teams to ensure legal advices are timely and properly provided to the relevant stakeholders
  • Translating legal documents between English and Chinese
  • Performing general case management including but not limited to collecting, summarizing and maintaining the cases information across business divisions, reporting the cases to head office on regular basis, and other duties as assigned;
  • Conducting legal research per requests of business team and supervisor using legal database and various government agency sites
  • Supporting Senior Legal Counsels with reviewing, organizing and summarizing case materials, mails and other case related documents
  • Drafting China litigation newsletters on quarterly basis
  • Assisting China Legal Team in any other matters as may be assigned from time to time

Minimum Experience and Skills Required

  • LL.B Degree or above
  • PRC Bar will be a plus
  • Minimum 3 years’ working experience in a multinational company or a reputable law firm
  • Detail-oriented, down-to-earth attitude, comfortable in a fast-paced environment
  • High integrity and compliance
  • A good team-player and effective communicator
  • Good command of oral and written English
  • Able to use regular working tools such as windows, MS OUTLOOK/WORD/PPT/EXCEL.
