Description

The HR Generalist will efficiently and professionally support the Company’s HR Function in line with key business objectives, helping to make the HR Department a highly cost-effective, valued and well regarded resource for managers, employees and associates alike. This role can be based at either our East Grinstead or Basingstoke site with the flexibility of working part of the week from home.

What will you do?

  • Provide timely advice and support on family friendly policies, recommending appropriate action where required.
  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition Platform to drive sourcing and recruitment strategies and processes including review and approval of requisitions, effectively managing headcount, developing appropriate interview tools when required, participation on interview panels Support managers with the performance review process, including identifying and developing promotable talent.
  • Organise and support delivery of new colleague inductions and orientation activities across the UK Southern region .
  • Support the Southern region payroll activity by providing accurate and timely submissions to our payroll team. ….
  • Build the monthly metrics, with analysis and insights for the sites in the region for delivery in the appropriate leadership team meetings. Provide advice, support, coaching and feedback to managers on talent management activities including performance management, training and development, organisational capability assessment, organisational change programmes, strategy and planning
  • Prepare HR Management Information to gain greater insight into the trends and to support continuous improvement in the management and monitoring of sickness absence, performance, retention etc. Pro-actively provide appropriate recommendations to line managers to address identified issues.
  • Support the pre-employment health screening process for the region ensuring timely submission, completion and follow ups as required.
  • Be accountable for the appropriate completion of the background and reference checking process for the region including support to managers when required.

Who we are looking for:

  • Proven generalist HR experience at advisor level;
  • Understanding and practical application of UK Employment legislative framework
  • Evidence strong experience in HR processes and procedures, e.g. Performance management, restructuring, Talent selection, leavers, absence management etc.;
  • Ability to research, analyse and reason logically within tight and conflicting time frames;
  • Ability to embrace and manage change in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work on own initiative to deliver projects and implement new initiatives;
  • Proven ability to navigate and manage employee relations issues.
  • Ability to identify development needs and suggest appropriate resources and solutions;
  • Experience of working effectively in teams;
  • Intermediate level Microsoft skills in Excel, Word, Outlook and Internet;
  • Studying towards CIPD or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent
  • Ability to navigate complex matrix structure organisational relationships. Confident in collaborating and Stakeholder engagement and communication
  • Ability to keep sensitive information confidential and secure;
  • Travel to other Thermo Fisher Scientific sites may be required within the UK.
