JOB SUMMARY
Analyze and maintain proper inventory levels on a higher number of SKUs to meet customer needs and contractual requirements in a manner that is most efficient and cost effective for the customer and SYGMA.  The effectiveness of this position directly impacts service levels on high profile items for our top customers and SYGMA’s operating costs. Responsible for achieving company inventory management goals for assigned products, which includes but is not limited to: PO accuracy (cost, quantity, dates) minimal shrink and managing inventory to lowest possible DSO.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage forecasting and demand planning for higher number of SKUs and/or higher profile SKUs for our top customers and resolve replenishment issues, while meeting established Purchasing Key Metrics.
  • Manage and process purchase orders in compliance with corporate guidelines
  • Demonstrate a higher level of proficiency of the Manhattan inventory planning tool DPR using dynamic selections, auto approval, auto splits, holiday buying processes, Perishable OP overrides, receiving exception calendars, and planned demand
  •  and other complex features within DPR, to drive teams performance as indicated by DPR scorecard and dashboards.
  • Maintain PO product and freight cost accuracy. Manage forecasting and demand planning for customer events, business shifts, and seasonality changes
  • Communicate closely with distribution centers and account administration to help ensure operational efficiency and profitability
  • Review forecasts, shelf-life, promos, transit time and buying brackets to calculate and place purchase orders for assigned buying load
  • Analyze data and review reports to prevent and reduce overstock conditions, shrink, slow-moving and obsolete inventory
  • Analyze inventory to ensure DSO goals are met while maintaining optimal service standards
  • Responsible for entering the planned demand for Export Orders or Sysco houses
  • Cover for assigned Planner(s) as needed
  • Use critical and analytical thinking to look for ways to become more efficient in current practices and communicate those to your Manager. 
  • Make recommendations for DPR improvement  
  • Work with Inventory Analyst to maximize inventory stocking efficiencies
  • Troubleshoot inbound Supply Chain to ensure timely delivery by reviewing appointments, confirmations and logistical data
  • Work with logistics team to maximize supply chain efficiencies
  • Identify and resolve opportunities throughout supply chain involving customers, vendors and distribution centers
  • Execute enterprise purchasing initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

Bachelor Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience


Experience:

1 year of purchasing experience in a SYGMA role required, 2+ years preferred

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate clearly with centers, suppliers, customers and other business contacts via telephone and email
  • High level of analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent follow-up ability with attention to detail
  • Must be able to deal with high pressure situations
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities

Physical Demands:

  • Work is primarily sedentary in nature
  • Much of the time involves using a keyboard for email communication

Mental/Visual Demands:

  • Must be able to read at distances close to the eyes, with or without correction

Working Conditions:

  • Most of the day is spent in a comfortable office environment
  • Occasional travel may be required by air and personal vehicle
