This role works directly with physician end users to identify equipment needs and vendor preferences. Using systems integrated with the Surgery Partners procurement platform, the position supports enterprise purchasing initiatives, group purchasing opportunities, and development of room-by-room, specialty-specific equipment budgets. The role also evaluates placement and vendor financing options and may support expansions of existing medical facilities.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum of 10 years of ASC procurement experience, including at least 5 years at the Director level or higher, with demonstrated expertise in ASC equipment budgeting, planning, and procurement
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate across enterprise-level departments
- Proficiency in MS Office and procurement software, with practical experience developing and managing project work plans and workflows
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines simultaneously and with a strong sense of urgency
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Mobility required to navigate various facility conditions and activities during the setup phase
- Primarily office-based environment with occasional exposure to patient care areas
- Ability to travel up to 50%
Responsibilities
- Lead development of de novo equipment and supply budgets and oversee the planning, purchase, or lease of all equipment, furniture, medical instruments, and supplies
- Manage, monitor, and forecast equipment budgets; identify cost variances and implement procurement strategies to remain aligned with approved project capital plans
- Participate in internal and external design, construction, and project meetings to provide updates and ensure project coordination
- Coordinate and manage the overall furnish-and-install FF&E matrix with key project stakeholders
- Lead coordination between fixed equipment vendors and architects during schematic design (SD) and design development (DD) phases
- Develop and manage vendor relationships to ensure competitive pricing, reliable delivery, and strong service performance
- Review and provide guidance on equipment proposals, purchase orders, and invoices to ensure alignment with GPO and Surgery Partners contracts
- Partner with physician end users to evaluate equipment options, balancing clinical preferences with enterprise standards to support informed selection decisions
- Establish delivery schedules for start-up equipment, furniture, medical and non-medical supplies, and pharmaceuticals; coordinate deliveries with project timelines, including warehousing when necessary
- Coordinate equipment installation, commissioning, end-user training, and operational handoff to clinical and facility teams
- Oversee vendor and GPO credentialing, credit applications, and required documentation
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously across various stages of development
- Provide troubleshooting support and coordinate resolution of equipment and procurement issues throughout the project lifecycle
