Description

The Recreation Therapist is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating activity services for assigned programs. This role involves developing and implementing treatment goals as part of an interdisciplinary treatment team while providing continuous patient care, observation, interaction, and role modeling under the direction of the Recreation Therapy Manager. 

Qualifications 

Education & Certification: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy or a related therapeutic discipline from an accredited college or university. 

  • Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) required. 

  • Certification by a national governing body (NCTRC) or eligibility for licensure/certification. 

Skills & Competencies: 

  • Strong knowledge of behavioral healthcare techniques. 

  • Ability to organize and prioritize workloads effectively. 

  • Proficiency in applying program policies and procedures. 

  • Skilled in documenting patient responses and functional progress. 

  • Awareness of safety risks and ability to address unsafe conditions. 

  • Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team. 

Additional Requirements: 

  • Timely renewal of CPR certification for healthcare professionals. 

  • Annual professional skills verification. 

  • "Handle with Care" (psychiatric crisis management) certification.
