About the Job
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital's Department of Diagnostic Imaging is looking for a highly motivated software engineer to develop and maintain state-of-the-art capabilities for medical imaging to support both departmental clinical and research initiatives. The successful candidate will participate in the planning, designing, coding, validation, implementation and documentation of medical processing streams and analysis, will manage computational systems for the Vision Lab within the Department of Diagnostic Imaging, and will participate in developing, implementing, extending and maintaining a robust imaging informatics platform. The preferred candidate will maintain knowledge and proficiency of complex technologies, and will implement these complex technologies to improve the functionality and efficiency of the department.
The preferred candidate will have a strong skill set and experience in software design and standard programming languages (Python, Matlab), Linux systems administration and Docker; and database management tools and querying (such as SQL). Additional preferred skills would include knowledge of medical imaging formats and standards (DICOM and/or nifti), familiarity with imaging informatics platforms (such as Flywheel, Nvida Clara), parallel computing in a high performance computing environment, and Django.
This is a temporary position for at least 1 year.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer or physical science, or related degree required
- Master's degree preferred
- Four (4) years of experience with current microcomputers and Unix /Linux workstations required
- One (1) year of experience in a research or academic setting required
- Experience in a hospital/healthcare setting is preferred
