•Knowledge of early-childhood educational strategies and techniques to improve sensory, motor and perceptual-motor development, cognitional, social, and emotional development.

Responsibilities
•Plans curriculum and prepares lessons and other materials based on student assessments, considering such factors as individual needs, developmental levels and physical limitations of students based on own observations and information from collaborative reports.
•Understands developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
•Instructs students by using educational strategies and techniques to improve sensory motor and perceptual-motor development, memory, language, communication skills, cognition, social, and emotional development.
•Confers with professionals from the student's community preschool to discuss specific expectations the community school teacher has for preschool skills.
•Arranges and adjusts equipment utilized by students in classroom, such as specially equipped play areas, worktables, mats or other specialized equipment.
•Uses technology as appropriate to meet preschool objectives.
•Provides consistent reinforcement to learning and continuous feedback to student.
•Meets with parents to provide support and guidance about their child’s developmental progress and needs.
•Maintains recorded documentation of patient attendance and progress as well as communication with home school district as needed. Provides progress reports to home school on a schedule as needed by the home school district or private preschool setting.
•Demonstrates the knowledge and skills (competencies) necessary to provide care appropriate to any developmental needs of the patients served. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development for all ages served. Demonstrates ability to assess and interpret age-specific data about the patient’s status. Identifies the patient’s age-specific and developmental needs. Provides developmentally-appropriate care for all ages served. Serves the following age groups: Preschool ( 3-5 years ).
•Mentors preschool teachers new to the St. Jude School Program as part of the School Program Orientation/Mentorship program.
Minimum Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or Early Childhood Education from a regionally accredited institution is required.
- Master's degree in Education or Early Childhood Education is preferred.
- Additional training in Special Education is preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Minimum Experience
- Three (3) years of instruction experience in a preschool setting or patient-oriented student instruction in an acute or critical care setting is required.
- For the preschool position, preference will be given to those with experience in preschool setting.

- (LC:TEACH-TN) Current State of Tennessee Teaching License is preferred.
- (LC: TEACH-SE) Special Education Endorsement ( PreK-12 ) is preferred.
