At St. Jude, we have one common goal: find cures for children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases through research and treatment.

We currently have an opportunity for a highly-motivated, experienced investigator focused on childhood cancer at mid-career to senior level (i.e., at the early Associate to Full level). As a lead member of our Psychology team, you will carry out your own research program with full access to our department and world-class institutional resources. With a primary research focus and a smaller (20%) clinical commitment expected, you’ll also mentor the research activities of other junior faculty in the department.

  • The specific area of research is open, and may relate to any areas of childhood cancer/psycho-oncology. Possible research areas could include adherence, health promotion and health outcomes research, survivorship issues, eHealth/mHealth interventions, sleep, pain, or palliative care/end of life.
  • Joint appointments to the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, and the University of Memphis Department of Psychology are available.

The Department of Psychology at St. Jude conducts a full range of clinical and research activities. Staffing includes 64 FTE’s, including 20 faculty, roughly evenly split between Clinical Track (> 80% clinical effort) and Clinician Scientist Track (> 60% research effort). Additional staff include psychological examiners/psychometricians, research assistants, postdoctoral fellows, and administrative support. We are an active training site, with training provided at the postdoctoral, internship, and graduate student levels.

Candidates should have a PhD and clinical internship from APA/CPA accredited programs with specialty training in pediatric or clinical child psychology. 
Applicants must be eligible for Tennessee licensure in Psychology.


A record of prior academic success, peer-reviewed publications and extramural funding is critical.
