About the Job

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is looking for a Database Analyst with data cleaning, transformation, and integration experience who is an inquisitive thinker and resourceful problem-solver. The Analyst will support data wrangling processes such as assembling, manipulating, analyzing, and disseminating data related to survivorship research within the Epidemiology and Cancer Control department and the St. Jude LIFE Study. The position is collaborative in nature, serving with a large group of analysts, data specialists, statisticians, clinicians, faculty, and research staff. 

The successful Database Analyst candidate should display competencies in the following areas:

  • Cleaning and structuring raw data into a prescribed format
  • Resolving routine questions and problems concerning data and descriptive analyses
  • Data manipulation and merge techniques; integration and mapping techniques
  • Documentation development for programs and processes
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to track and execute multiple projects at once


  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Bachelor's degree in health sciences, public health, epidemiology/biostatistics, computer science or related field preferred
  • Master's Degree preferred

  • Four (4) years of experience in database design involving experience with database and software validation, current querying tools and knowledge of relational database structures and methodologies required
  • Master's degree in lieu of four years of experience
  • Base SAS programming for data management and analytics or willingness to learn preferred
