The Department of Global Pediatric Medicine, or St. Jude Global, at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is a growing department looking for professionals who are eager to help implement the mission of taking St. Jude to the world by training the clinical workforce, developing and strengthening health systems and patient-centered initiatives, and advancing knowledge to sustain continuous improvement through research. The department seeks a Sr. Business Analyst I (Data Science Analyst) to lead and manage data synthesis and visualization projects to track metrics and inform decision-making, planning, and implementation of initiatives related to St. Jude’s World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for Childhood Cancer.

In 2018, St. Jude initiated a collaboration with WHO for a new global effort to cure at least 60% of children with six of the most common kinds of cancer worldwide by 2030. Since then, St. Jude has supported the WHO Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer to engage government, policy, clinical, academic, civil society leaders and collaborators across all six WHO regions to increase access to quality care for children with cancer. To support this vital work, the Sr. Business Analyst I must demonstrate the ability to extract, manipulate, and synthesize data from diverse sources and types (both quantitative and qualitative data), and develop compelling dashboards and reports. As this key team member will interact with a variety of colleagues and global collaborators, the ability to communicate clearly and establish positive working relationships is essential.

 

The Senior Business Analyst I (Data Science Analyst) is responsible for:

  • Managing the design and execution of dynamic country and project dashboards to inform health systems strengthening project needs and successes
  • Developing methods for data collection and metrics tracking to monitor project status and meet project objectives and deliverables
  • Establishing effective data management processes
  • Recommending and supporting utilization of new data management, analysis, and reporting tools and methods
  • Developing and managing project plans
  • Managing project resources
  • Serving as data visualization expert for the Health Systems Unit
  • Working collaboratively with other GPM team members and global stakeholders to understand project needs and implement relevant data and reporting activities
  • Working both independently and collaboratively on a variety of projects

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Heath Information Systems, or a related field is required
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Health Information Systems, or a related field is preferred

  • Five (5) years' experience in business analysis which includes system requirements, systems training, application support and/or development, business process design or technical documentation required
  • Five (5) years’ experience and expertise in data analytics and visualization preferred
  • Experience with visualization/analytics platforms (e.g., PowerBI) preferred
  • Experience involving clinical and basic science activities in a research hospital preferred

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to design compelling dynamic dashboards to present complex data from diverse sources
  • Experience manipulating and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data
  • Experience with survey/data collection platforms and data (e.g., Qualtrics)
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to express technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences, verbally and in writing
  • Experience with global health data a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Project Online and Professional a plus
  • Flexibility in schedule to accommodate meetings across different time zones
  • Cultural sensitivity is a must
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and coordinate multiple projects/work initiatives
  • Excellent, demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
