About the Job


Under the general supervision of the General Manager, the Director of Programming/Hockey Director supervises the entire scope of programming and hockey related activities including but not limited to: leagues, events, Learn-to-Play, Learn-to-Skate, public programming, full-time, part-time and contract employees. General responsibilities will include sales, coaching, scheduling, supervision of programs and employees, and performing various administrative and supervisory activities.

The Centene Community Ice Center/St. Louis Music Park is a 4-sheet ice complex, with three indoor and one outdoor NHL-sized rinks which will serve as a hub of youth and amateur sports activity and as a place where the community can come together. It will be the official training and practice facility for the St Louis Blues and home to other local hockey programs, including Lindenwood University, the St Louis Blues Alumni, AAA Blues, and the Lady Cyclones. In addition to hockey and skating programs, games and tournaments, the outdoor rink will convert to a 5,000-seat concert venue and turf field which is scheduled and used for community events and programming.     • Developing creative leagues/programs to utilize the turf field, dry floor, and ancillary spaces
    • Serve as the liaison between the City of Maryland Heights and the Centene Community Ice Center
  • Management of Full-Time Program Coordinator
  • Lead instructor for all hockey instructional programs
  • House league Hockey Programs administration
    • Youth Leagues
    • Adult Leagues
    • Other off-season Leagues
  • Assist with Collection of Participation Fees for Leagues and Programs
    • Monthly review and verification of accounts receivable
  • Program Instructor Staffing for Camps and Clinics
  • Hiring and Supervision of all Scorekeepers and On-Ice Instructors and Counselors

  • Administrative duties include:
    • Building programs in a Facility Management Software to allow customers to easily register
  • Act as a liaison for Learn to Skate USA, US Figure Skating, USA Hockey
  • Confirming Assignment of referees with Referee Assignor for all functions
  • Coaches Education Training program for all coaches in facility
  • Serve as tournament director for all rink-sponsored tournaments
  • Ensuring all rental skates are maintained for programming
  • Other duties as necessary or designated by General Manager


  • Ability to ice skate and teach hockey and skating classes from beginners to elite at all age levels
  • Ability to communicate in person, by phone, and email.
  • Establishes positive relationships with customers, partners, tenants, and client
  • Strong knowledge of USA Hockey, Learn to Skate USA, and US Figure Skating
  • Prior experience in ice rink management or parks and recreation setting preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent. Bachelors degree preferred
  • Proven knowledge of management, marketing, and promotion
  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with a facility management software..
  • Experience as a coach or referee preferred.
