Join our team! As a Systems Engineer, you will be using your skills and expertise to research, architect, model, simulate, test, certify and improve cutting edge products and services. You'll be developing complex system architectures within contextual modeling platforms, ushering them from operational concept through preliminary and detailed design, simulation, and test using progressive tools. As a cross-functional engineer, you are in charge of system-level ownership of new products and processes through the product lifecycle.

The Space Systems business area, based in Louisville, Colorado with operations in Madison, Wisconsin and Durham, North Carolina, designs and manufactures advanced spacecraft, satellites, propulsion and environmental systems, spacecraft subsystems and components for the U.S. government (including NASA), commercial customers and international organizations. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Determining and justifying which items to spare, with support from other specialty engineering roles to balance projected consumption against budgetary constraints

  • Tracking preventive maintenance needs and coordinating with Operations to add tasks to an integrated vehicle schedule

  • Reviewing and interpreting records in multiple systems to evaluate the direct impacts to cost and schedule when recommending to perform or defer maintenance, and to support cognizant engineers in evaluating cost, schedule and technical risks and impacts

  • Generating and maintaining documentation for managing life-limited parts and providing training to personnel in interfacing organizations

  • Assist in calendar- and mission-based maintenance planning by notifying Operations of items with maintenance requirements projected to come due

  • Updating vehicle logs and other records, overseeing/facilitating other personnel assigned to maintain records and supporting Quality reviews of records

  • Coordinate with Operations warehouses to identify hardware lists to be staged by site to support fabrication/test/launch/turnaround activities

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 10 or more years of relevant experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams

  • Thorough understanding of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles

Preferred:

  • Advanced Experience with requirements management and system modelling tools, such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLAB

  • Knowledge of industry standard mechanical design principles, to include, but not limited to requirements management, Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)

  • Experience or certification in INCOSE standards

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry

  • Experience leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of high impact trade studies and other measures

  • Thorough understanding of establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM)

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $117,040.88 - $160,931.20

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
