Overview: The VP, Product Development is a senior executive role that sits at the helm of an organization's product development initiatives. This customer centric and strategic leader is responsible for steering the vision, design, and execution of products that align with the company's goals and market demands. Lead consumer healthcare product development, with emphasis on health plan (HP) products.
Successful candidate skillset:
P&L‑minded product owner who approaches Health Plan and Provider products like a business line—prioritizing value, margin, and market fit.
Operator and builder who can stand up structure, processes, and governance.
Strategic innovator who can “break the mold” in care delivery and go‑to‑market—e.g., concierge or stand‑alone care delivery offerings—where it improves outcomes and growth.
Connector across clinical, network, operations, finance, sales, and compliance to ensure products are viable, differentiated, and scalable.
Coach and calibrator of a product team that will sit under this role, creating clarity in roles, prioritization, and decision rights.
Deep, hands‑on Health Plan product experience (operations + development), including pricing, benefits design, network/IDN dynamics, medical cost management, and compliance/regulatory awareness.
Autonomous innovator with executive presence; influences without formal authority across clinical, actuarial, network, and operations.
Integrated Delivery Network experience with Health Insurance Plans and Providers
Education:
Bachelor's Degree Required, Master's Degree Preferred in Engineering, Life Science, Computer Science, Business or Marketing
Experience:
15+ years of progressive experience in product development, strategy, or innovation within healthcare, managed care, or related industries.
10+ years of leadership experience managing multi-disciplinary teams (product, design, engineering).
