Department/Position Overview:
The Central Float Pool at Sentara Martha Jefferson is hospital specific and includes floating to units with additional need due to either acuity or staffing. Primarily assigned to IMCU or Medical/Surgical units, this unit offers training and precepting on the ICU and ED for those who wish to move into these more critical care areas. This Central Float Pool is ideal for those who enjoy variety or are interested in learning new skills.

The Safety Partner assists with the provision of a safe hospital environment conducive to individualized patient care for patients at risk of suicide, falls, wandering, agitation, impulsiveness, self-harm or other risk behaviors enabling patients to maintain or enhance function during the hospital stay.
Education:
HS – High School Grad or Equivalent
Certifications/Licensure:
AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
Applicants without prior experience or current health sciences program status must successfully complete a Sentara Safety Partner Training Course in addition to core competencies during orientation.
De-escalation and physical intervention training within 30 days of hire, except for those in Behavioral Health within 15 days of hire.
Experience:
One year of health care experience is preferred.
