How will you make an impact?

The Scientist II, Cellular assays and applications will support product development and sustaining activities for cell-based and biochemical functional assays within the biosciences R&D group. The successful candidate will possess good practical knowledge of cell biology techniques, specifically experience with mammalian cell culture and fluorescence-based detection platforms. The successful candidate will be data driven with an ability to work in a dynamic cross-functional team.

What will you do?
  • Provides direct support in maintenance of adherent and suspension cell cultures and oversee tissue culture facility support activities
  • Design experiments with guidance, analyzes data, and write protocols and reports
  • Conduct experiments independently including flow cytometry, imaging, and microplate readers
  • Solve problems of moderate scope using technical knowledge and design controls
  • Present findings on a project level to team members and internal stakeholders
  • Adhere to internal policies and procedures, as well as external quality standards
  • Participate in the development, validation, and support of new assays
  • Represent R&D function on a product development or applications project core team

How will you get here?

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cell Biology, Biophysics, Biochemistry or related discipline AND 3 years of related lab experience; OR master’s degree in Cell Biology, Biophysics, Biochemistry AND 2 years of related lab experience

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Practical laboratory experience in mammalian cell culture is required (cancer cell lines, primary cells, stem cells, etc.)
  • Experience in cell transfection and transduction methods
  • Strong knowledge of cell-based and biochemical fluorescence detection methods
  • Experience in assay development with microplate-based, flow, and imaging methods
  • Strong laboratory knowledge of assays development best practices
  • Proficient in statistical data analysis
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to efficiently evaluate and manage multiple project tasks

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior knowledge of nucleic acid labeling methods for fluorescence-based biophysics applications
  • Prior knowledge of molecular biology techniques such nucleic acid extraction, PCR, qPCR, capillary electrophoresis’s, NGS, etc.
