Job Description:

As a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in New York State, you will play a crucial role in providing compassionate and essential healthcare support to patients in various healthcare settings. CNAs are responsible for assisting licensed nurses in delivering high-quality patient care, ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of individuals under their supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Patient Care: Provide direct care to patients, including but not limited to bathing, dressing, feeding, and grooming. Assist with mobility and help patients with activities of daily living.

  2. Vital Signs Monitoring: Take and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates, to ensure patients' health and stability.

  3. Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including observations, care provided, and changes in the patient's condition.

  4. Medication Assistance: Assist with medication management, which may include administering prescribed medications and monitoring for any adverse reactions.

  5. Supporting Nursing Staff: Collaborate with registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) in implementing care plans and treatment protocols. Report any significant changes in a patient's condition to the nursing team.

  6. Patient Comfort: Create a supportive and comfortable environment for patients, offering emotional support and companionship.

  7. Safety and Infection Control: Adhere to strict safety protocols and infection control procedures to protect both patients and healthcare personnel.

  8. Communication: Communicate effectively with patients, their families, and the healthcare team to ensure a coordinated approach to care.

  9. Compliance: Follow all state and federal regulations, as well as facility policies and procedures, to maintain the highest standards of care.

Qualifications:

  • Certification: Completion of an accredited CNA training program and current New York State CNA certification.

  • Basic Healthcare Skills: Proficiency in basic nursing skills and a strong understanding of patient care principles.

  • Compassion: Demonstrated empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to improve the lives of patients.

  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
