Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Technical Writer and Editor to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Put your years of experience into a future of excellence. The qualified applicant will become a part of the Peratons Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Marketplace Service Desk Team and will be responsible for staging, reviewing/revising for consistency, delivering and archiving weekly, monthly quarterly and annual program deliverables. The Technical Writer and Editor must be able to coordinate and with individuals in variety of skills areas, including software develops, users and subject matter experts.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Writes, edits and formats program and technical documents such as standard operating procedures, user guides, etc.
  • Ability to acquire subject knowledge by interviewing subject matter experts.
  • Work with senior level staff to write and review all manner of program documents and briefings.
  • Incorporate review comments and corrections into existing documentation.
  • Perform all work consistently, quickly and accurately.
  • Manage each defined project responsibly and on schedule including planning time for necessary reviews of documentation. Anticipate projects in development stage and communicate with the Manager to allow for adequate planning.
  • Prioritize and manage multiple projects within design specifications.
  • Develop meeting agendas and minutes, track and communicate action items and summarizing meeting content.
  • Follow the standard design, layout, and format of the documentation using approved software tools. Write and/or edit "scripts" that telephone customer service representatives and computer systems analysts will use to support inquirers. Ensure spelling, grammar, and overall usability of scripts is maintained
  • Develop program plan documents, briefs, reports, and other documents such as training materials, user manuals, and other documents as requested.
  • Foster a positive working environment and build solid work relationships with other teams and groups.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • BA/BS plus a minimum three years of writing experience.
  • Strong writing, proofreading and communication skills
  • Must be highly organized and able to manage multiple responsibilities/ deadlines simultaneously
  • Independently demonstrates the skill and ability to perform fairly complex professional tasks
  • Understanding of 508 Compliance as it pertains to written documents
  • Fluent in MS Office (including Excel), Adobe Suite, and the utilization of SharePoint for the purposes of Data Management and Version Control
  • Experience supporting meetings (e.g., taking minutes, tracking actions and summarizing meeting content).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; writes clearly and concisely, speaks articulately, assures communications are comprehensive and timely, involving all who need to know
  • Strong interpersonal skills to help foster good cross-functional relationships
  • Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Designation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Federal government contracting experience
  • Working knowledge of or experience supporting CMS
  • Effective analysis skills for scrutinizing and evaluating product operation and interpreting into effective documentation
  • Proficiency in MS Visio or other Illustration tool
  • Experience with graphic design
