TheSr. Paralegal, Litigatonreports directly to the Assitant General Counsel, Litigationand works with the members of the litigation group to manage a docket of litigation and pre-suit claims involving the company. At any given time, the docket may include commercial disputes, intellectual property claims, governmental investigations, bankruptcy, class actions and other matters as assigned. From time to time, the role may also cover matters relating to product liability, personal injury, premises liability, environmental, real estate, privacy, regulatory compliance, and insurance claims.
Responsibilities
- Assist in-house and outside counsel in all aspects of managing litigation and pre-suit claims.
- Research and collect information to respond to interrogatories, requests for admissions, requests for production of documents, and third-party subpoenas.
- Assist attorneys with complex case and project management, such as investigation, discovery, assembling documents for production and exhibits for trial, witness testimony, mediation and trial preparation.
- Investigate lawsuits and allegations by claimants and interview witnesses.
- Communicate with internal business personnel and outside counsel.
- Review and draft settlement agreements and correspondence.
- Review and summarize deposition, hearing, and trial transcripts, statutes, case law, regulations, court documents, and/or company documents.
- Perform preliminary legal research.
- Maintain and update case docket, manage records, and prepare reports and presentations.
- Plan and manage other projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or ABA approved paralegal certification.
- Minimum of eight years in a law firm or corporate law department.
- Knowledge of intellectual property and corporate securities law.
- Comprehensive computer skills including Internet technology based programs.
- Understanding of SEC Section 16b beneficial filing obligations. Due diligence document production skills.
