Position Description

The PCT Internship Program is open to Patient Care Techs who have received their CNA license and are looking to start their career in the hospital setting.

This 8-week program includes classroom education and precepting to ensure a successful transition into providing independent patient care. We offer you a wealth of clinical resources, including system-wide and unit-based educators who support our PCT Interns through the program, sharing their passion and knowledge. 

The PCT Internship Program Includes:

  • Hospital and Patient Care Orientation
  • Charting System Training (Cerner)
  • Classroom Education (Clinical and Professional)
  • Skills days
  • Unit-based precepting

This is a 8-week program with 6 weeks of classroom education.

PCT Interns must be available to attend orientation, all classroom days, and all precepting shifts

Medical-Surgical Unit Descriptions

The PCT Internship Program consists of multiple sub-specialties.  Each department is a separate unit, and our Residents can choose from:

  • General Medicine (2 Units)
  • Orthopedics/Urology (Post-Surgical)
  • Neuroscience
  • Post-Surgical/Bariatric
  • GI Med Surg
  • Progressive Cardiac Care Unit/Telemetry

Position Requirements

1.

  • a. Listed as a CNA on the Georgia Registry OR
  • b. Graduate of a U.S. Military Medic course OR
  • c. Enrolled in a School of Nursing and has completed one (1) full semester of clinical rotations OR
  • d. Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing or Medical Degree program


2.

  • Current BLS card (CPR) Preferred: N/A
