About the Job
Directs the overall operation of the laboratory relative to the efficiency of pathology services. Performs independently from own knowledge in the field of pathology/histotechnology to direct the personnel in all policies and procedures performed in the lab. Oversees the purchase of new equipment and implementation of new procedures to ensure quality patient care is provided. Oversees the administrative function of the department, ensuring hospital administration receives accurate reports on a timely basis. Coordinates Performance Improvement activities in the department of Pathology. Oversees all operations related to the pathology information system to include daily maintenance functions, systems updates and troubleshooting. Coordinates pathology in-services, safety and continuing education programs for the department. Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state and regulatory agency laws and regulations.
- Must meet the Georgia State Laws of licensure of clinical laboratories, Chapter 290-5-290.06, (3) (b), 1-7.
- HT/HTL certification
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
