General Summary of Position:

  • The Surgical Liaison serves as a personal contact for families and companions of surgical patients during the perioperative period. The liaison provides support and helps to alleviate stress by engaging with patients, families, and companions to address concerns and facilitating communication between families, patients and staff. These functions are performed in accordance with all applicable regulations, policies, procedures and standards of MedStar Washington Hospital Center.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Communications, or another related discipline.

Experience:

  • Approximately two to three years of hospital, nursing or comparable experience in hospital environment and/or acute care setting.  Data analysis skills, Public Speaking and experience is desirable and a plus.

Certification/Registration/Licensure:

  • None required for this position.
