Advanced Practice Provider, (Heart Valve Clinic, NP/PA)

NURSE PRACTITIONER / PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT

General Summary of Position:

The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is responsible for the health outcomes of an assigned patient population in collaboration with the physician. Functions as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team to ensure high quality, cost-effective care to patients in their area of clinical expertise and within the scope of their licensure and credentialed privileges.  Follows established standards, procedures and practices and gives specific patient management directions to nursing and other staff.  Incumbents in this position may be required to perform all or a significant combination of duties depending on their specialty area. The Advanced Practice Clinician reflects the mission, vision and values of the organization and adheres to the organizations Code of Ethics, Corporate Compliance program and all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Education:

• A Bachelor's degree in Nursing plus completion of an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program. For inpatient settings, the Nurse Practitioner program must be in an Acute Care/ Acute Adult certification. Master’s degree is preferred.

Experience:

• One year experience preferred.
   

Certification/Registration/Licensure:

• Current certification as a Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) through their national certification bodies. Licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the District of Columbia.
