MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center is actively recruiting for a fulltime, experienced RN to join our renowned team!  This position provides support for rotating shifts, Day and Night.  36 hours per week.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform admitting assessments, review history and develop plan of care.

Perform daily assessments, review vital signs and record results on the documentation in the EMR.

Report any abnormalities to doctor.

Assist patient with daily activities, pain management and administer medication as ordered.

Implementation of physician orders during rounds, review orders and transcribe orders.

Competent in computerized medical record documentation.

Utilize standard precautions to prevent spread of infection.

Assist with keeping rooms free of clutter.

Provide patients and families with education information regarding procedures and any medication

Initiate referrals and provides ongoing communication to other disciplines in order to facilitate

discharge planning.

Displays knowledge of OB equipment and procedures.

Provide care and help for women having lost their babies through miscarriage or still birth, as well

assisting women throughout pregnancy and through the postpartum process.

Problems are identified, prioritized, and communicated to physician.

Administers medication per policy. Monitors effects of medications and observes patient response;

knowledgeable regarding actions and side effects.

Completes divisional and unit-specific competencies as required.

Participates in continuing education classes and in-services.

Responsible in delegating tasks to unlicensed personnel.

Competently completes accurate, concise, and legible documentation of hospital records.

Contributes to the overall operation of the unit by actively participating in activities such as: charge

RN duties, preceptor for new staff, committee work, performance improvement, and special

Effectively utilizes the nursing process in the delivery of patient care as defined in the MCH unit

specific standards.

Competently assist women having gynecology procedures.

Perform other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • RN BSN preferred, Associates accepted
  • Must have Maryland RN license
  • Healthcare Provider CPR certification
  • American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Commitment to excellence and customer service
  • 1 - 3 years minimum previous Ante-Partum, Post-Partum, GYN, or OB experience preferred.
