Primary Duties and Responsibilities
-
Answers incoming telephone calls, determines purpose of calls, and forward calls to appropriate personnel or department.

Takes and delivers messages or transfers calls to voice mail when appropriate personnel are unavailable

Re-direct calls as appropriate and take adequate messages when required.

Organize, assemble and maintain medical lab files.
-
Coordinate workflow in the absence of the supervisor.
-
Greet, assist and/or direct physicians and patients in a professional manner.

Provides backup order entry as needed
-
Maintains a working knowledge of the Laboratory Information System
-
Effectively able to utilize copiers, fax machines and other office equipment
-
Delivers reports to the Nursing Units as needed.

Transcribes dictation utilizing full range of medical terminology.

Processes charge slips for manual testing
