1 year experience in a hospital, nursing home, home health aide environment preferred.

Ability to comprehend and follow the policies and procedures for Southern Maryland Hospital Center.

Working knowledge on the following Safe Lift Equipment: Viking, Sabina, Ergoslide, Hoyer lifts, and Golvo. Gaitbelts, vital signs machine, and weighing scales.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
-
Take vital signs (temperature, blood pressure, pulse, pulse ox and respiratory rate) and report any abnormalities to the nurse in charge of patient and record legibly on nursing flow sheets

Accu-check monitoring
-
Provide direct patient care such as assisting with bathing, eating, dressing, and walking patients.
-
Turn and reposition bedridden patients to prevent breakdown of their skin.
-
Change bed linens.
-
Record amount of oral intake and measure urinary output.
-
Collect specimens for tests making sure they are labeled and transported properly.
-
Supply and empty bed pans.
-
Transport patients and equipment as needed.
-
Follow infectious disease precautions to prevent the spread of organisms.

Aware patient fall prevention interventions and able to identify patients at risk for fall.
-
Provides post- mortem care and transporting the body to the morgue.

Perform other related duties as assigned.
