Minimal hours required for an experienced Food Prepper!

Job Summary

You will work primarily in the kitchen supporting the production of food products- your main function in this role is to assist in the preparation of food stuffs. You will clean and sanitize work stations and production equipment. General responsibilities of the position include those listed below but MedStar/Sodexo may identify other responsibilities of the position.

Education/Training

High School Diploma and about 1 years of experience prepping great meals preferred!

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Positive, respectful professional with good communication skills (written and verbal). Honesty and ethics are key.

Basic computer skills preferred.

Maintains a professional relationship with all coworkers, vendor representatives, supervisors, managers, customers, and client representatives.

Basic food-handling skills needed.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
    • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Reads recipes and/or product directions.
    • Estimates food requirements.
    • Operates a variety of kitchen utensils to weigh, measure, mix, wash, peel, cut, grind, stir, strain, seasons and knead foodstuffs for cooking, serving and storing.
    • Assists in the preparation of hot and/or cold foods, and properly stores food, utilizing knowledge of temperature requirements and spoilage.
    • Inspects workstations for compliance with service standards.
    • Keeps records and requisition for supplies/equipment as needed.
    • Cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment following all MedStar/Sodexo, client and regulatory rules and procedures.
    • May taste test products.
    • May have basic cooking responsibilities, i.e., cook vegetables, chicken for salads.
    • Attends all allergy and food borne illness in-service training.
    • Complies with all MedStar/Sodexo HACCP policies and procedures.
    • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
    • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
    • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.
    • Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.
