Introduction

This position will support the 3:00pm -11:00pm shift, Monday-Friday, with one weekend monthly rounding on weekend staff.

Job Summary and Qualifications

  • You will be responsible for daily operations of the Central Service operations, including staff supervision
  • You will implement the policy and procedures of the Central Service Department and work collaboratively with peers and staff to achieve department goals
  • You will review daily schedule in advance to ensure that daily instruments needs are met, including Vendor Loaner Trays
  • You will assist in the proactive management and control of assigned inventory levels that will allow for supply needs to be met while minimizing on-hand inventories
  • You will monitor and assist Surgical Materials staff to ensure that all functions are carried out according to policy and procedure and compliance with applicable Federal, State and other regulatory agencies including Joint Commission
  • You will provide input for the performance evaluations of assigned staff and may initiate corrective actions
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic high school education or its equivalent required
  • Extensive knowledge of surgical instrumentation and how it is used required
  •  This position requires excellent organization skills, communication skills, memory retention and flexibility; a full range of physical abilities; and the sensitivity, maturity and ability to communicate clearly and concisely
  • 2 years minimum experience with surgical supplies, case cart assembly, instrument assembly and previous leadership experience, or equivalent combination of related post high school education and experience, required
  • IAHCSMM Certification preferred or must be completed within first twelve months of employment
