Position Summary

The Data Engineer within the Enterprise BI & Data team at Life Time is responsible for delivery and development of data engineering solutions for assigned projects. This role will work closely with solution architects, business partners and other software engineering teams to provide solutions leveraging both structured and unstructured data following modern data architecture principles.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates closely with business and technical leaders to deliver data solutions to support operational reporting, financial analysis, member personalization and advanced analytics.
  • Influences the Modern Data Architecture (MDA) strategy, and best practices, by partnering with lead architects
  • Collaborates on, and implements, domain data modeling to support self-service business intelligence capabilities
  • Develops data pipelines to ingest and transform data using modern data engineering practices
  • Participates in peer design, code and solution reviews
  • Collaboratively troubleshoot technical and performance issues within the data platform
  • Participates in agile ceremonies that plan and prioritize the teams work commitments

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience, in Computer Science (or related field of study)
  • 4+ years experience designing and developing data warehouse solutions
  • 3+ years experience working with relational databases (preferably SQL Server, Azure SQL)
  • 3+ years experience developing ETL/ELT solutions using tools such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, Informatica, or Python

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience working as part of an Agile team
  • Experience developing solutions leveraging modern database technologies such as Azure Cosmos or other NoSQL technologies
  • Experience implementing solution leveraging Microsoft Azure services is a plus
  • Experience with CI/CD technologies such as GitHub or Azure DevOps Pipelines is a plus
  • Experience working with real-time streaming data (Kafka, Azure Event Hub or Azure Service Buss)
  • Familiarity with Data Lake concepts and technologies
  • Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate, Azure Data Fundamentals or other data engineering related certification
