Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY: 

This position is responsible for oversight of the daily operations, staffing, and productivity of the Las Palmas Medical Center Vascular Department. This position is responsible for department PI program, preparation and maintenance of accreditation standards per ICAVL guidelines.

POPULATION SERVED:

Core competencies will be assessed primarily on the following patient populations(s) served: 30 days old to 70+, etc.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, PI program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Responsible for care of equipment. Ensures proper reporting of equipment malfunction or downtime.
  • Performs quality vascular diagnostic studies according to physician orders.
  • Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients.
  • Obtains quality vascular anatomy and quantitative calculations for interpretation.
  • Communicates findings to the physicians interpreting the studies.
  • Participates in “on call” coverage as needed.
  • Maintains professional development.
  • Attends department meetings.
  • Supervises completion of correlation studies and materials pertinent to the accreditation of the labs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS

  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer in Echocardiography under ARDMS or CCI
  • Certified training from a formal school of echocardiography
  • BCLS certified

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of echocardiography and EKG arrhythmia.
  • Minimum of 2 years echo experience and/or 2 years of supervisory experience in a related field.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Reads and writes basic English with the skills necessary to understand physician’s orders.
  • Ability to move in excess of 100 pounds, with assistance from other personnel and/or equipment.
  • Flexibility with work situations and basic clerical skills.
  • Able to recognize abnormalities, correlate information obtained and convey the findings to physicians.
