The purpose of the Continuous Improvement Specialist role is to drive the development and deployment of continuous improvement and operational excellence methodologies, standards, practices and tools across JM. The Continuous Improvement Specialist will be responsible through a combination of personal knowledge, research of industry best practices, and partnering with external consultants the development of Johns Manville's "Compass Operating System" model for continuous improvement and operational excellence, and executing a deployment plan for implementing the model across Johns Manville. This position can be based in Denver, CO or any other JM NA location. Your Day-to-Day: * Partner with all levels of the organization from Sr. Management to Hourly workforce to communicate direction and progress and to drive adoption/change management through training and presentations. * Manage weekly, monthly operating rhythm and communication mechanisms to keep others informed and drive accountability. * Collaborate with the extended OPEX team and other field employees in the implementing and using the tools and continuous improvement process of the Compass model. * Analyze operations and processes across JM's business units and identify and recommend opportunities for improving existing processes and standardizing around existing best practices. * Research best business practices for operational excellence and continuous improvement within and outside the organization to establish benchmark data. * Develop, recommend and implement operational excellence and continuous improvement practices and procedures to form the basis of the "JM Compass Operating System" model, focusing on enhanced safety, increased productivity, market optimized quality and reduced cost. * Manage, develop and implement professional documentation, training materials and internal branding to support deployment of the "JM Compass Operating System" model. * Lead through influence and collaboration to develop and execute plans for implementing process improvements and deploying the "JM Compass Operating System". * Identify, recommend and partner with outside experts and consultants where appropriate/necessary to accelerate or optimize identification of improvement opportunities or new processes, development or implementation plan, and/or documentation, training, implementation, etc. * Determine and verify how information technologies can support the "JM Compass Operating System" and partner with IT resources on development and deployment of appropriate new technologies or improvement/utilization of existing technologies. * Partner with Operations and Business Leaders across JM to facilitate change management within the business units to drive adoption of new processes and procedures in operational excellence and continuous improvement. What You Bring to the Team: * Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 5 years of work experience in a manufacturing environment * Lean/6 Sigma Black Belt Certification - Strongly preferred * Solid experience with Lean/SixSigma tools and deployment (or other recognized OPEX/CI methodology) - preferred * Proficient in Operational Excellent/Process Improvement/Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies -- Lean, 6 Sigma, TPM, Kepner-Tregoe, etc. (Solid) * Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills (Expert) * Strong leadership through influence skills (Solid) * Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally (Expert) * Strong presentation/training skills (Expert) * Proven analytical and quality improvement ability (Expert) * Proven ability to negotiate and find common ground across multiple constituencies (Solid) * Proven project management skills (Solid) * Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook (Solid) * Ability to work independently and in a team environment (Solid) * Working knowledge of SAP or ERP systems (Basic) * Heavy travel required (75 or more days per year) * Primary work environment is a typical office setting. * Work environment in the field is typical of a manufacturing facility: May be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc. * May be required to lift, carry, push or pull up to and including 30 pounds. Applicants can expect to make between $82,000 to $113,000 upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors.
