Description

We’re hiring an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist for a hospital in Winston-Salem, NC where you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating treatment, care, and needs of patients with breathing disorders.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree from a Respiratory Therapy or Cardiopulmonary Science program.
  • Current NC state license in good standing.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential required. CRT acceptable but not preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapy critical care experience. This must include mechanical ventilation and airway support experience.
  • Previous experience with pediatric patients required for NICU/Peds designation; neonatal and pediatric experience preferred.
  • BLS and PALS required. NRP required for NICU roles. ACLS preferred.
  • Preferred experience with high-acuity, Level 1 trauma center environments.
  • Preferred experience with department equipment: Servo U, Servo Air, The Vest, Volara, Aerogen, Heated High Flow, cough assist. For pediatrics, HFJV and HFOV experience preferred.
  • Documentation, patient assessment, monitoring and diagnostics, and time management skills.


Assignment Details

  • Facility type: Hospital.
  • Primary specialty: Registered Respiratory Therapist — NICU/Pediatrics or Adult as assigned.
  • Shift: Nights.
  • Shift hours: 1800–0700.
  • Shift pattern: 3x12.
  • Standard hours per week: 36.
  • Duration: 13 week travel assignment.
  • Weekend rotation: every other weekend.
  • Holiday expectation: travelers will work approximately 75% of holidays.
  • Orientation: 1–2 days departmental plus facility orientation.
  • Floating: Assignment to units based on traveler experience and unit needs; no routine floating to other facilities.

Public transit options include the Winston-Salem Transit Authority bus network, with easily reachable commuter routes to major shopping districts and medical centers. The nearby Piedmont Triad International Airport is approximately 25 minutes by car, enabling regional travel and quick access to Charlotte and Raleigh within a 1.5–2 hour drive.


Standard Job Description Addendum

You will provide direct respiratory care in ICU, medical/surgical, or pediatric/neonatal units as assigned. Responsibilities include ventilator management, airway maintenance, monitoring, patient assessment, documentation, and participation in departmental teamwork. Department culture emphasizes collaborative practice with lead therapists on each shift. EMR system: Epic.
