Honeywell is looking for a highly qualified experimental
Physicist II in our Broomfield, CO location to apply their knowledge of
condensed matter physics for unique industrial applications.
Job
Responsibilities:
- Under moderate supervision, you will be responsible for a variety of intermediate level scientist responsibilities to advance the technical expertise of the business
- Tasks that require the use and application of scientific methods and tools
- Interact with internal customers and team members to facilitate the completion of projects to customer specifications or use theoretical knowledge to complete scientific tasks and provide analytical predictions
- Perform all necessary activities to accomplish goals within overall cost and schedule projections
- Execute project subtasks to meet customer specifications (analysis, designing, testing, etc.)
- Anticipate and resolve day-to-day and project issues
- Contribute to project presentations; Develop and apply advanced methodologies and technologies to build technical solutions that improve processes and procedures
- Build, setup, and troubleshoot cryogenic and vacuum systems in support of laboratory experimentation
- Craft new test methods, design experiments, perform experimental testing, and analyze test samples and data
- Support the design and development of integrated solutions with cryogenics being a key component
- Partner with Principal Investigator and Program Management for project execution
- Occasional travel is required
YOU MUST HAVE
- U.S. citizenship in order to obtain and maintain government secret clearance
- Minimum Bachelor of Science degree
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with research, analysis and experimentation
WE VALUE
- Master’s degree in Physics or related field
- Deep understanding of experimental systems and the impact of environmental parameters (e.g., temperature, pressure, electromagnetic fields, mechanical stability) on the performance of low temperature condensed matter systems and devices
- Hands on knowledge of cryogenic and vacuum systems and techniques, and the ability to develop and implement innovative ways to advance the state-of-the-art systems
- Ability to identify a technical development need and the resourcefulness to address the need through a combination of research, analysis, and experimentation
- Understanding of experimental design to capture the desired data; Critical thinking in planning and executing experiments
- Proven innovation in the design, construction, and operation of equipment for sample environments, including experience with one or more of the following: Wet and/or dry cryogenic systems, High vacuum equipment, Mechanical motion and vibration stability, Electromagnetic fields & Precision electronic measurements
- Familiarity with the use of sensors, data acquisition systems, test instrumentation, and programming with LabVIEW
- Experience with electronics assembly, soldering, and wiring
- Ability to build written test procedures and test reports
- Experience working with assembly drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, interface drawings, sketches and other written, visual and oral instructions
- Experience with making rapid prototypes of test fixtures and tooling as needed
- Sound and timely technical discernment and opinions
- Self-motivation, strong interpersonal and technical skills, and be good at working with customers, partners, and colleagues; Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills
