What will I be doing?

The Senior Lead Platform Engineer (Mobile), will be involved in planning, prioritizing, and supporting the delivery of innovative Hilton mobile platform capabilities in collaboration with Software Engineering, Leadership, and cross-product/cross-function business partners. Platform Engineering applies platform management and technical design and delivery skills to plan and prioritize the work of systems or services used by multiple Guest and/or Team Member products. You will balance the needs of product/business feature owners, platform engineering and architects, enterprise safety and soundness, and performance/scalability to continually drive delivery of platform capabilities across Hilton’s web and mobile applications. A Platform Engineer is also responsible for other projects and tasks, allowing agile/iterative platform development: roadmaps, context/sequence diagrams, epics, stories, technical wireframes, collaboration space documentation, client/partner presentations, etc. This position stresses versatility as platform interests span front-line product awareness, enterprise infrastructure familiarity, data and API proficiency, performance monitoring, and longer-term foundation planning.

  • Working on cross-app mobile experiences across phones and tablets by defining in-app as well as underlying platform capabilities that use Hilton’s evolving service/API driven infrastructure and third party services/integration
  • Drive platform capability planning within platform and app delivery roadmaps with input from appropriate partners for outstanding guest experiences
  • Supervise App and underlying platform performance including app store reviews to seek opportunities/issues and own the delivery of applications and/or platform-specific improvements
  • Collaborate with key partners including Product, Software Engineering, and Creative
  • Sustain awareness of existing and upcoming iOS features and capabilities

What are we looking for?

We believe the success in this role will demonstrate itself through the following attributes and skills:

  • Success leading a product/platform management function by working with Technology, Business partners, and partner teams dispersed geographically
  • Strong presence and the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts in understandable terms
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of mobile operating systems and devices, mobile platforms, and APIs
  • Success balancing feature, performance, technical debt, and infrastructure transformation/modernization delivery efforts against resource constraints
  • Consistent record of coordinating across multiple functional and agile delivery teams to meet objectives and key results
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in defining and executing agile product/platform delivery (conceptualization, initiative/epic/story creation, creative and solution design, development, testing, and implementation)
  • Understanding of Adobe Analytics, and experience with APIs (GraphQL a plus)

To fulfill this role optimally, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

  • Ten (10) years of experience in a technology/ product environment
  • Four (4) years of experience writing product user stories and requirements in an agile product and platform environment
  • 25% Travel

It would be useful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

  •  Bachelor’s Degree, or Associate’s Degree plus 6+ years of Technology related experience, or High School Degree/GED plus 12+ years of Technology related experience
  • Ten (10) years of professional experience in the technology/product environment
  • Strong demonstrable understanding of software tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Rally, Zeplin, Visio, Adobe
  • Good understanding of the mobile landscape, technologies, disrupters, and standard methodologies
  • Experience with UI/UX design and usability, Graph API
  • Experience with online A/B testing to drive improvement in customer experience and business results
  • Experience applying web analytics and data analysis to aid technology/ business decision

For Colorado applicants only: The annual salary range for this role starts at $93,000 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location. Hilton offers its eligible team members a comprehensive benefits package including medical and prescription drug coverage, dental coverage, vision coverage, life insurance, short-and long-term disability insurance, a 401(k) savings plan, paid time off, and our travel discount. Subject to plan terms and conditions, you will be eligible to participate in the Hilton Annual Incentive (Bonus) Plan consistent with other team members at the same level and/or position within the Company.
