About this Position
We are seeking a highly accomplished Scientist / Senior Scientist with deep expertise in the development, application, and troubleshooting of protective coatings for Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) environments.What you´ll do
- Develop and optimize waterborne and solvent-borne industrial coating formulations for corrosion protection, wear resistance, and chemical durability
- Design multi-layer protective coating systems including primers, intermediates, and topcoats for harsh industrial environments
- Define and optimize surface preparation methodologies and application parameters across steel, concrete, and specialty substrates
- Develop advanced coatings for major thrust areas including wear protection, corrosion protection, thermal insulation, smart materials, and chemical resistance
- Conduct performance evaluation including corrosion, abrasion, thermal cycling, adhesion, and chemical resistance testing
Troubleshoot coating failures, perform root cause analysis, and deliver field-proven coating solutions to extend asset life - Support scale-up, manufacturing transfer, technical documentation, and cross-functional collaboration with production and field teams
- Evaluate new raw materials, drive innovation in advanced materials, and contribute to next-generation industrial coating technologies
What makes you a good fit
- Minimum 4 years of work experience
- Should be a Ph.D/ Chemistry and Polymer science/Material Science. Masters can be considered
- Hands-on experience in waterborne and/or solvent borne coating systems (formulation, testing, and application).
- A strong understanding of corrosion mechanisms, polymer curing chemistry, and coating–substrate interactions.
- Familiarity with material characterization and coating performance evaluation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative R&D environment.
- Exposure to high solids, low VOC, waterborne, or solvent-free coating technologies.
- Experience related to MRO sectors—oil & gas, marine, infrastructure, power, or heavy engineering.
- Understanding of regulatory frameworks such as VOC, EPA, REACH.
- Experience with field trials, root-cause analysis, or technical service activities
