Job Details:
Heartland’s Business Enablement team is looking for a Promising Entrepreneur (known as an Intern elsewhere) to join our dynamic group for Summer 2021! As a Data Science PE for the Heartland Business Enablement team, you will work to gather and translate data that has been collected about Heartland’s service programs into a format to enable better business decisions. Within the Advanced Analytics team, you will support initiatives across Heartland business units that encompass revenue and budget planning, portfolio management and optimization, pricing strategy and sales compensation. You will also work on projects in a Scrum based agile team. As a Promising Entrepreneur, you will be encouraged to build and maintain analytical tools and leverage analytical and critical reasoning to solve complex, multidimensional problems using quantitative information and applying statistical and machine learning techniques.
In addition, you will be given a unique responsibility to undergo a project assessment, handed by the Business Intelligence Leadership Team to be presented along with facts and recommendations to Executive Leadership of Heartland Payment Systems.
What will you be doing?
Build revenue and volume forecasting models to support portfolio management and optimization
Gather Data from Internal and External Sources
Build, validate, and test predictive models using machine learning techniques to explain or predict behavior and solve a variety of business and engineering problems.
Inspect, Cleanse, and Transform Data used for analyses
Consolidate and Summarize Data for Business Decision Making in Useful Formats
Perform Basic Statistical Analysis (correlation, regression, or time series analysis)
Use problem solving methodologies to propose creative solutions to solve business problems
Review tasks and assist with duties of the Senior Data Analyst
Other responsibilities as assigned
What are the requirements?
Must be enrolled in a Business Analytics program at an accredited university
At a minimum intermediate level with Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word.
Strong communication skills.
Strong troubleshooting, programming and analytical skills.
Willingness to learn visualization tools -Tableau experience preferred
Experience managing multiple projects with competing priorities simultaneously
Experience writing T-SQL a plus
Knowledge with AWS or Azure is a plus
Prior experience in R or Python or similar language is a plus
