The Cardio Invasive Specialist-RN is responsible for planning and administering the nursing activities of the patient, and will provide outstanding patient care with respect to patient expectations, cultural, spiritual and age specific individual needs. This includes the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the patient according to the standards of professional nursing practice in the clinical setting of the Cardiac Cath Lab.
The Cardio Invasive Specialist-RN will also be proficient in aspects of angiography, preparation, documentation, and monitoring consistent with the policies and procedures of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and hospital administration, with responsibility to adhere to all the rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
The primary duty of the Cardio Invasive Specialist-RN is to maintain professional performance of nursing care with secondary duties consisting of monitoring, recording, and scrubbing that is to be performed when availability indicates, depending on daily staffing makeup/skill level; to be determined by the Manager.
Adheres to approved standards of aseptic technique during any procedure in the Cardiac Cath Lab, utilizing equipment and supplies in a safe and prudent manner.
Facilitates implementation of physician's orders accurately, promptly, and courteously.
Utilizes knowledge and skills in giving safe and effective nursing care.
Identifies the nursing needs of the patients.
Ensures proper procedural guidelines and precautions are followed.
Gives direct nursing care.
Plans for and maintains a clean, orderly, and safe environment for the patient.
Identifies the area of nursing care which is within the range of abilities and job scope of personnel.
Assigns and supervises accordingly those assigned to him/her by the Supervisor/ Manager.
Demonstrates competency and knowledge in efficiently preparing a patient for Cardiac Cath Lab procedure using established aseptic technique.
Prepares patient for procedure in a timely fashion and notifies physician promptly.
Moves, lifts, or assists patient appropriately to procedure table and provides for maximum privacy during procedure.
Gives report to the accepting Nurse and accompanies patient to his/her room when necessary.
Ensures all supplies and medications are properly charged to each patient accurately utilizing the hospitals inventory systems with a team approach.
Ensures all Supplies are properly rotated and removed from procedure areas where applicable utilizing a team approach.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current Florida RN licensure or endorsement permit. Current RCIS/CCRN certification preferred.. Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain. Must hold current AHA ACLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to start date and maintain. Excellent, positive human relations skills. Meets basic employment requirements of facility. Previous Invasive Cardiology experience or 2 years Critical Care experience required. Previous Interventional Cardiology experience preferred. Previous Electrophysiology experience preferred. Able to take call on a rotating basis and be available in the Cath Lab within 30 minutes of notification. Able to work long variable hours.
