Position Purpose:

Brand Marketing Specialist is responsible for hunting and bringing new licensed retail brand partnerships to Gilchrist & Soames. This role reports directly into the G&S Global Brands Director. Core responsibilities include working with Global Marketing and Brands Directors on key target list of brand partnerships, pursuing and closing contracted licensing agreements. The role will also be the matchmaker between our hotel brand partnerships with our license retail brands.

Primary Responsibilities:

NEW BRAND HUNTING:
  • Measurable Goal: Secure at least 2 new licensed retail brands within a 12-month cycle with a signed legal contract agreement
  • Set Licensed Retail Brand Targets based on market needs and place them within the Strategic Brand Marketing Annual Plan
  • Produce a monthly written report to be provided back to Global Brand and Marketing Directors on the progress on the first of every month


STRATEGIC BRAND MARKETING PLANNING:
  • Measurable Goal: Produce a well-defined and comprehensive annual new brand target plan within the first 60 days of employment and refine the target plan quarterly
  • Plan to contain market trend analysis, SWOT analysis, and licensed brand attack plan with the provided template
  • Keep a pulse on new packaging innovation, social causes, brand expansions/acquisitions
  • Continually monitor competitors and their portfolios - assess their relevance to market trends and identify gaps that we may exploit via new brand licensing or marketing positioning of current license brands
  • Work with Global Sales Corporate Account Directors on Brand Matching Matrix during Annual Business Planning Process
  • Plan to be reviewed and approved by Global Brand and Marketing Directors
  • Results to be provided in monthly report and Strategic Brand Marketing Plan Template


LINK LICENSED BRANDS TO G&S TEAMS:
  • Measurable Goal: Manage correspondence between licensed retail brands and G&S Teams during the pre-contract process
  • Contribute to building the relationship and trust between both the licensed brand and G&S Team by assisting with needed setup and information to the licensed brand and internal G&S teams
  • Assist G&S Global Brand and Marketing Directors to execute the Strategic Marketing Business Plan linking the right licensed brand with the right hotel brand customer


CONTRIBUTE WITH NEW PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT:
  • Measurable Goal: Provide feedback on new program launch to keep process on track
  • Support brief in & kick-off new collection development with PD, Design, Manufacturing and R&D teams
  • Engage marketing and sales to develop successful launch plans for new license retail brands
  • Support Regional Brand Managers on all licensor inputs, reviews and approvals for product formulations, designs and marketing materials
  • Proactively solve for roadblocks between licensed retail brand and hotel brand relationships


Education:

Bachelor's degree - Preferred area of study is Licensing, Marketing or General Business

Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a relevant function.
  • Knowledge of hospitality industry and personal care or market is preferred.


Skills:
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and professional interactive skills.
  • Extraordinary relationship and people skills that builds trust with our business partners.
  • Proficient contract negotiation skills and legal contract understanding.
  • Excellent time management and project management skills, including the ability to multi-task and work well under deadline.
  • Understands team dynamics and works well within a team structure. Capable of working with peers and associates from other departments and shifts in a proactive and constructive manner.
  • Ability to take the heat in challenging internal or external communications and leave discussions with all parties positively advancing mutual initiatives.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlooks, Access, and Publisher)
  • PeopleSoft experience preferred.
