Engineering Lab Assistant

About the Job

We are looking for a full-time Engineering Lab Assistant for our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role, you will be responsible for the asembly, testing, and modification of experimental electronic circuits, systems, and apparatus to assist in the development of engineering prototype units. Other essential functions include:

  • Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, schematic drawings and receive verbal and written instructions regarding work assignment
  • Route and lace cable assemblies
  • Install components and parts such as switches, coils, transformers, relays, transistors and semiconductor circuits on chassis, circuit boards, panels, and other units
  • Replace defective components and wiring
  • Assemble experimental circuitry (breadboard)
  • Maintain the supply of components in the lab parts cabinets
  • Obtain components from outside vendors if the stock room is depleted
  • Manage and communicate status of assigned tasks using computer-based project tracking tools
  • Acquire tools for new hires
  • Maintain a department-wide reference library

Qualifications

Qualified candidates will have a highschool diploma or GED, as well as demonstrated experience in Surface mount soldering techniques. Other qualifications include:

• Must demonstrate the ability and proficiency to read and interpret documents such as schematic diagrams, assembly drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others
• Driven problem solver with proven success in troubleshooting
