JOB DESCRIPTION

As part of FOX's global database administration (DBA) team, responsible for various Enterprise databases such as MySQL, Oracle, MSSQL and Postgres. Day to day tasks include space and performance monitoring of the database and scheduled tasks, including system monitoring and remediation through various scripts contained in the environment. Specific duties include: 1) Configuration, provisioning, upgrading and decommissioning databases. 2) Database tuning for optimization and performance. 3) Monitoring production deployments for capacity issues, performance and troubleshooting. 4) Actively participate in production database support and available for on call rotation support. 5) Work with customers to verify and validate schemas and queries for performance and scalability. 6) Keep abreast of new database capabilities, developments, and products and provide guidance and suggestions for new and improved technologies. 7) Keep backups as current as possible and devise restoration techniques with minimal downtime. 8) Automation and Shell scripting. 9) Work collaboratively with the team members when required and train others on the newly acquired competence. 10) Provide proper documentation for tasks and issues. 11) Participate in any corporate wide ventures related to security, operations, automation, development, administration and documentation. 12) Lead the technical efforts in collaboration with the team. 13) Handle change management operations. 14) Keep run-books updated for smooth operations.

Job Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, plus five (5) years of progressive, post-baccalaureate database administration or related experience administering and monitoring enterprise databases, including experience installing, configuring, migrating database; upgrading SQL Server to new versions; running databases on AWS RDS; and extracting, transforming and loading data (ETL)

Alternatively, will accept a Master's degree in Computer Science or related field, plus two (2) years of database administration or related experience administering and monitoring enterprise databases, including experience installing, configuring, migrating database; upgrading SQL Server to new versions; running databases on AWS RDS; and extracting, transforming and loading data (ETL)

*Specific skills: Also requires experience or knowledge in the following: 1) Experience in MySQL DB systems Administration and Oracle Database Administration; 2) Experience working with multi datacenter environments; 3) Experience with UNIX/Linux scripting using python and bash; 4) Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases; 5) Experience in Query analysis, DB Schema design and TCP dump; 6) Knowledge of cloud operations and Virtualization; and 7) Experience with high availability and performance tuning techniques
